VOC

Be aware that these figures often refer to the base paint only. Unless the pigment used to colour the paint is also low or zero VOC, it will increase the VOCs. The darker the hue of the paint, the more VOCs it will contain.
While low- and zero-VOC paints have been around for about a decade, the earliest formulas did not perform well. But the new technologies have changed that, and thinks consumers will embrace the new generation of product.

At Goldwell we are using the newest genrations of paints.

Low VOCs the new trend in paints

VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are carbon-based solvents that make paint spreadable, keep it from freezing and make it stick to the wall. On the down side, they evaporate into the atmosphere, contributing to greenhouse gases and ill health in humans.
While Environment Canada has been consulting with stakeholders over standards for VOCs in paints for several years, formal regulations won't be announced until 2009.
In anticipation of regulation, and in response to consumer demand, many manufacturers have begun following guidelines of such third-party certifiers such as Green Seal – a U.S.-based non-profit that develops environmental certification standards (greenseal.org) and the Ottawa-based Eco Logo (ecologo.org), which requires that low-VOC paints contain no more than 150 grams of VOCs per litre.
